You Asked: When is Interstate 14 coming to Lincoln County?

BROOKHAVEN — A new interstate was approved by the federal government to connect West Texas to Georgia and run through Lincoln County to Natchez in Nov. 2021. Readers asked about the project last week.
Brookhaven is already working towards getting ready for I-14 whenever it comes. The Board of Aldermen voted in April to extend water services towards US84 which is where the Interstate would likely run.

Interstate 14 was originally proposed in 2005 to begin in Texas, cross Louisiana, and extend from Natchez eastward to Georgia or South Carolina. Texas received congressional approval in 2015 and construction began in west Texas in 2017.

Mississippi Department of Transportation Public Information Officer Anna Ehrgott could not give much of an update for the southern district project.

“Currently, no funding has been set aside for a section of I-14 in Mississippi and no timeline is in place,” Ehrgott stated.
