Dangerous heat, severe storms possible for area today

The National Weather Service in Jackson has advised that dangerous heat is expected in the area, along with severe weather in nearby areas.
An elevated risk of dangerous heat stress conditions exists across the day Monday, with temperatures in the mid- to upper-90s, and heat index values peaking as high as 110 degrees. Brookhaven is forecast to see a high of 94, plus heat index of 10 or more degrees in the high humidity.
Heat exhaustion is likely with prolonged outdoor activity, so citizens are encouraged to take extra precautions.
Severe storms are possible in Franklin and Jefferson counties today.
As the remnants of Hurricane Beryl move inland, isolated severe storms will be possible late in the afternoon and in the evening for areas across northeast Louisiana, southeast Arkansas, and far west Mississippi. Damaging wind gusts and isolated tornadoes are possible.
