A motor home fire claims the life of a Brookhaven man, Christopher Maxwell, Friday night.

Reports from the Brookhaven Fire Department say a call about a house fire reached responders at 7:47 p.m. The department arrived at 930 Old Brook Road at 7:51 to find Maxwell’s home, a mobile home with an addition, fully involved with a fire.

Brookhaven Fire Department Chief Tony Weeks said at this time they do not know the exact cause of the fire, and he does not want to speculate.

The department’s reports first efforts to enter the structure was hampered by the way the addition to the home was attached to the home. Chief Weeks said the firemen were finally able to gain entry into the structure through the point where the mobile home was attached to the addition through a burned wall. Reports list the body being found during the second attempt to enter the structure upon which the Lincoln County Coroner Clay McMorris was contacted.

McMorris, said 44-year old Maxwell died at the residence, and they are awaiting autopsy reports.

After the body was found, responders continued to extinguish the fire finishing at 11:10 p.m. with the structure suffering 100 percent damage. All department units responded to the fire as, Weeks said, is customary for house fires.

Chief Weeks said the state fire marshall will arrive Monday to investigate the site for further information regarding the cause of the fire.
