Panthers crush Wingfield Falcons

JACKSON – The Brookhaven Panthers crushed the Wingfield Falcons 15-2 in Region 6-5A baseball action Tuesday night in Jackson.

The Panthers (2-6, 1-0) are schedule to be in action Saturday, if weather permits, as they prepare to visit Terry to participate in the Terry Bulldogs’ Classic. Brookhaven battles Wesson at 2 p.m. and Terry at 5 p.m.

The Panthers kicked off their Region 5-6A race with a huge blast in the first two innings of action as they scored six runs in the first inning and seven more runs in the top of the second inning to quickly claim a 13-0 lead.

Wingfield finally managed to get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning as they push one run across the plate. The Falcons added another run in the fourth inning.

Brookhaven would end the contest in the fifth inning as they scored two more runs to secure the win on the mercy rule.

Penn Wilson was the winning pitcher for the Panthers with five strikeouts and no walks in two innings of action. Reese Reynaud (6K, 1BB) pitched the final three innings in relief.

Wilson paced the Ole Brook’s offense with a double and a single. Jon Mark Mathis provided a double. Brandon Henyard and Blaine Moak ripped a pair of singles. Hitting safely were Judson Henning, Logan Emfinger and Scotty Bateman.
