Lady Jaguars edge Lawrence Co.

SUMMIT – The Lawrence County Lady Cougars suffered a tough 1-0 loss to their Region 7-4A rivals, the North Pike Lady Jaguars Tuesday night in fastpitch softball action.

The Lady Cougars (7-2, 0-1) will be in action today as they prepare to host the McComb Lady Tigers for another big Region 7-4A test. Junior varsity action is set to begin at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.

The Lady Cougars and the Lady Jaguars provided a great defensive ball game for their softball fans as the game remained scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning, when North Pike managed to push across the winning run.

Madison Bigner dominated the pitching circle for the Lady Jaguars, collecting 14 strikeouts and gave up only two walks.

Elizabeth Smith suffered the setback for the Lady Cougars with five strikeouts and one walk.

Alexsundria Thomas, Elizabeth Smith, Tiera Collins and Maddux Kirkland lead Lawrence County’s offense with a single each.

North Pike was paced offensively by Sarah Brock, Janiah Talbert and Jordan Fitzgerald with a single each.
