The Cougars held that lead in the fourth until they were down to the two-minute wire and Bogue Chitto added some points, but it wasn’t enough to take the lead away from the Cougars. Lawrence County won 59-45.

“We had young players starting for us. It felt like in the second half the players grew up and we made strides tonight that will accelerate us into the future,” Bobcats’ coach Mark Pitts said.

The girls’ game remained a defensive show until five minutes left in the first, when the Lawrence County Lady Cougars (1-2) went on a 6-0 run. The Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats (0-2) managed to get on the board with 4:16 left on the clock.

With over two minutes left in the first period, the Lady Bobcats started cutting into the Lady Cougars’ lead. Lawrence County took a 14-10 lead into the second period. Despite decent defense in the second period that saw the Lady Bobcats cause several turnovers, LC took a 29-15 lead into halftime.

Bogue Chitto was able to cut into the lead at the end of the third but they trailed 43-33. The Lady Cougars’ 12-7 run in the fourth period ended the game and gave them the win over the Lady Bobcats, 55-40.
