BA Cougars dominate against Natchez Cathedral Green Wave

The Brookhaven Academy Cougars and Lady Cougars stepped back into district play as the Natchez Cathedral Green Wave visited the John R. Gray Gymnasium Tuesday night. The Cougars played a strong game from start to finish, rolling over the Wave in a 68-32 win. The Lady Cougars came up short for the second time this year versus Cathedral by a score of 55-40.

BA Cougars 68, Natchez Cathedral 32

The BA Cougars (16-6) came out quick posting a 31-12 halftime lead over the Cathedral Green Wave on their way to the 68-32 win. Dawson Flowers led all scorers with 21 points and eight rebounds. Luke Jackson posted 12 points to go along with seven assists and Dylan Winborne chipped in 11 points and eight boards of his own.  Derrion Batieste led Cathedral with 10 points.

Natchez Cathedral 55, Lady Cougars 40

The Lady Cougars (15-8) couldn’t get on track Tuesday night after trailing by 13 points at halftime and never drawing any closer, falling to the Lady Wave by a score of 55-40. Jana Case led BA and all scorers with 19 points and six rebounds. Kailyn Jordan and Ann Michael Smith each had five points in support. Marty Lewis led Cathedral with 17 points.

BA JV girls 46, Cathedral JV girls 28

The BA Lady Cougar JV squad used high pressure, full-court defense to turn back the Lady Wave on their way to a 46-28 victory. Makayla Martin led BA with 16 points. Juliana Crosby added 11 points to the Lady Cougar total as well.

BA JV boys 44, Cathedral JV boys 24

The BA JV boys jumped ahead early, en-route to a convincing 44-24 win. Britton Nelson led all scorers with a 17-point outing. Gavin Brogden scored 10 points in his afternoon of work.

BA will be back at home Friday afternoon when Laurel Christian visits for district play. JV girls action is set to begin at 4 p.m.
