Offers and visits started to pick up fast for Brookhaven rising senior defensive back Jemaurian Jones before the 2016 football season.

Ever since then, the highly touted cornerback has reeled in 25 Division I football scholarship offers, his most recent one coming Friday morning from the University of California-Los Angeles.

The Brookhaven native originally committed to Mississippi State back in February to play in Starkville for head coach Dan Mullen and the Bulldogs. On April 9, Jones de-committed from Mississippi State and re-opened his recruitment to the rest of the schools that offered him.

Since then, Jones has received offers from Oklahoma, Tennessee, UCLA, Georgia, Florida State, Oregon State, Georgia State and more.

Jones has great size for a defensive back and the proper skill set and technique to go along with it. Listed at 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, it’s no surprise that Jones has been so heavily recruited by some of the best college football programs in the country.

Jones had a great 2016 season for the Ole Brook Panthers with 38 total tackles, 24 of them solo tackles with four interceptions and five passes defended in the secondary. Jones started all 12 games for Brookhaven and looks to play a larger role on the Panther defense in 2017.

Jones started eight games in his sophomore year in 2015 and had 26 total tackles, 25 of them solo tackles.

Jones will play a major role on an improving defense in Ole Brook alongside another highly recruited prospect in rising senior defensive tackle Jeffery Johnson. Johnson has received many offers himself, but has been recruited by Florida State and Ole Miss the most. Both schools  are considered the favorites to sign Johnson.

With lots of players being recruited by Division I schools, Jones and Brookhaven are poised to have a big 2017 season.
