Funeral services for Ruthey Geneva Plunkett, of Union Church, were held Monday, Aug. 28, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Stringer Family Chapel in Hazlehurst with burial at Pleasant Ridge Pentecostal Church Cemetery.

Visitation was held Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017, from 4 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Plunkett, 89, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, at Copiah Living Center.  She is survived by her husband, Jake Cecil Plunkett; sons, David Glen Newell and Bennie Ray Newell, both of Copiah County; daughters, Doris Morton, of Brookhaven, Betty Nasif, of Copiah County, and Elsie Downing, of Richland; brother, Jack Norton, of Copiah County; sisters, Charlotte Pearl Loper, of Florence, and Cleo Watkin, of Copiah County; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
