Lady Panthers run away with XC title

The Brookhaven High girls’ cross-country team took home another team title this weekend as they captured first place in the Madison XC Festival hosted by Madison Central High School.

Junior Bailey Pounds was the first finisher for the Lady Panthers with a time of 20 minutes, 48 seconds, which was good enough for fifth place. Miyah Miller and Gracie Gray finished in seventh and eighth places, respectively, with times of 21:02 and 21:03. Freshman Ellie Slay finished in 10th place with a time of 21:24. Carley Craig of BHS finished in 13th place with a time of 21:53 and was closely followed by her teammate, Emmaline Wolfe, in 14th place with a time of 21:59.

The BHS boys also had a strong showing, as they finished third behind Bartlett High (Tennessee) and Pearl.

Grayson Childress was the top finisher for Brookhaven with a time of 17:10, which grabbed him sixth place. He was followed closely by teammate Jacob Britt in seventh place with a time of 17:11. Sam Arnold finished in 12th place with a time of 17:45. Jake Thompson (17:45) and Collin Kellum (19:25) were also top finishers for Brookhaven.
