COVID-19 cases rise as schools welcome back students across the state Lincoln County.

For this area, there were 937 cases Tuesday. This is an increase of 24 cases since last reported Friday. There were 49 deaths. This is an increase of three deaths since last reported Friday.

Lincoln County had 129 long-term care facility outbreaks. An outbreak is considered any confirmed COVID-19 case among LTC residents, or more than one case in a 14-day period among staff or employees of a facility. There were 30 long-term care facility deaths.

The Mississippi Department of Health reported 801 new cases statewide, with 67 new deaths. The total for the state stands at 79,206 cases and 2,315 deaths.

As of Tuesday, there were 176 long-term care facility outbreaks, with 12 new long-term care facility deaths.

There are 788 patients hospitalized with the coronavirus, with 234 of those in intensive care and 124 on ventilators. A total of 62,707 are presumed recovered.

Testing is still being conducted, and 592,149 tests have been done statewide, with 544,283 for detecting positive cases of the virus, 24,188 for detecting antibodies and 23,678 detecting antigen.

Locally, testing is available at King’s Daughters Medical Center. The COVID-19 screening site is located behind the Emergency Room and will be open to the public 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m-2 p.m. Saturday & Sunday.
