An investigation into a Monday evening shooting in Brookhaven is ongoing, according to law enforcement.

Brookhaven Police Department Det. Sgt. Penny Banks said an individual was treated in the King’s Daughters Medical Center Emergency Room just before 10 p.m. Monday, suffering from gunshot wounds.

“It appears to be from close range, possibly a small caliber handgun,” Banks said.

No other information was made available as the case remains under investigation.
