Father arrested after altercation with son

A Lincoln County man was charged with aggravated assault thisweek following a domestic disturbance in which he allegedly struckhis son in the head with a gun and the weapon fired, authoritiessaid.

The incident involving Howard Levy Sr., 53, and his son HowardLevy III, 23, happened around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at their residenceat 1102 Old Saint John Road, said Johnny Hall Jr., Lincoln CountySheriff’s Department investigator.

“They got into an altercation, and the father wound up hitting(the son) in the back of the head and the gun went off,” said Hall,adding that the reason for the altercation was not known.

No one was hit by the bullet from the .357 pistol. Levy III wastaken to King’s Daughters Medical Center, where he was treated andreleased, the investigator said.

Levy Sr. was released on bond later Tuesday. No charges werefiled against Levy III, Hall said.
