PERKINSTON -Twenty-two points by freshman center Mindy Livaudaisled four Co-Lin players in double figures Monday night as the LadyWolves defeated Gulf Coast Community College 82-75 and remainedunbeaten in 18 games. Rusti Smith chipped in 18 points, TiffanyDales 14 and Christy Brown 10 for Co-Lin in the South Divisionvictory.

In the men’s game, Gulf Coast beat the Wolves 71-69, led byFreeman Taylor’s 12 points.

Co-Lin returns home to host East Central Community CollegeThursday night in Mullen Gymnasium. The women’s game tips off at 6p.m., followed by the men at 7:45.

The Lady Wolves (18-0, 7-0), ranked No. 6 in the latest NJCAApoll, hit 23 of 42 field goal attempts from 2-point range andovercame Gulf Coast’s 50-34 rebounding advantage. Smith hit 4 of 8from 3-point range.

On the backboards, Co-Lin got 12 rebounds from Dales. Livaudaisgrabbed 9 rebounds.

Sophomore guard Denise Catchings dished out 6 assists and made 5steals, helping Coach Gwyn Young’s Lady Wolves defeat GulfCoast.

The Wolves (14-4, 4-3) got a 27-point performance from playmakerBarry Whitley. He also had 9 rebounds and 9 steals.

“Except for Barry Whitley, our starters had a poor first half,”stated Co-Lin men’s coach Dennis Sims. “To have played so poorly,we still had a chance to win the game.

“We had some positive play from several of our players who cameoff the bench to help keep us in the game,” Sims noted. Startingforward Macus Calcote missed the game due to illness.

The Wolves got 13 points from sophomore guard Brandon Dickerson.Freshman center Quentin Christian was limited to 13 minutes ofplaying time and 2 points. His late tipin failed to beat thebuzzer.

Gulf Coast owned a 41-34 rebounding edge. The Bulldogs got 9rebounds from Andrian Sukhotin, 6-foot-11 sophomore fro Karkov,Ukraine.
