Thomas ‘Julius’ Burt

Services for Thomas “Julius” Burt, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel on NatchezDrive with burial in Arlington Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Burt, 84, died Nov. 24, 2008, at Haven Hall HealthcareCenter. He was born in Pascagoula on Dec. 9, 1923, to ThomasDecater Burt and Effie Inez McLaughlin Burt.

He retired from the Mississippi State Highway Department. Heserved in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Mt.Moriah Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Jimmy Lynn Burt;a brother, Hoover Burt; and a sister, Opal Burt.

Survivors are his wife, Myrtle Marie Freeman Burt, ofBrookhaven; his sons, Julius William Burt and wife, Judy, LarryDale Burt and wife, Becky, and Lee Van Burt and wife, Lisa, all ofBrookhaven; a daughter, Audrey Burt Allgood and husband, Clyde, ofWesson; a brother, Roffie Burt, of Brookhaven; his sisters, AgnesWilliams and Inez Thornhill, both of Brookhaven, Hilda Penner, ofCalifornia, Sandra Ratcliff, of Florida, and Barbara McCraken, ofAustin, Texas; his nine grandchildren, Brad Burt, Allison Graham,Jim Burt, Tom Burt, Megan Burt, Ryan Burt, Misty Morrison, StacyBrister and Clay Johnson; his 12 great-grandchildren, KatelynMorrison, Jesse and Cotton Brister, Devin, Justin and Dillon Burt,Brittany Reeves, Abigail Graham, Nikki Burt, Kyle, Cheyenne andBrooks Burt; a great-great-grandchild, Haley Reeves; hisstep-grandchildren, Hanna and Trevor Davis and Jake Smith.

James Taylor Herring

Services for James Taylor Herring, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel withburial in Riverwood Memorial Park.

Mr. Herring, 68, died Nov. 24, 2008, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter in Brookhaven. He was born on March 28, 1940, to StevenHerring and Nora Elliot Herring.

He attended Mississippi School for the Deaf and graduated fromKentucky School for the Deaf. He worked for several newspapers. Hewas a member of Easthaven Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, James RobertHerring; his father-in-law, Dr. W.M. Commander, and asister-in-law, Patsy Commander Vaughn.

Survivors are his wife, Mildred Ann Commander Herring; hisbrothers, Robert Lee Herring and George Elliot Herring; hissisters, Elsie Herring Owens, Mattie Herring Correro and JuliaHerring Hess; his mother-in-law, Sue Commander; a sister-in-law,Sue Carol Trantham and husband, Cecil; and a brother-in-law, HowardVaughn. He was also loved by many nieces and nephews.

Eunice Kiger Mueller

Services for Eunice Kiger Mueller, of Brookhaven, are 10 a.m.Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel on NatchezDrive with burial in Easthaven Cemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Mueller, 77, entered into her eternal home on Nov. 23,2008, at Select Specialty Hospital in Ridgeland. She was born inDublin on June 24, 1931, to Lindsey Boyd Kiger and Gertie MaeHatfield.

She was in the field of nursing. She attended Brookhaven Churchof God.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her former husband,Otis Higginbotham; and a daughter, Patricia Berry.

Survivors are her five daughters and sons-in-law, Martha Griceand husband, Toby, of Pearl, Carole Boyte and husband, Wayne, SueBarnett and husband, Roy, Marilyn Cotton and husband, Steve, all ofBrookhaven, and Wanda Rowe and husband, Danny, of Midland, Texas;her loving husband and companion, Danny Pierce, of Columbus; andher loving pet of 14 years, Susie.
