Services for LaNelle Middleton Fortenberry, of Monticello, are11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at Monticello Baptist Church inMonticello with burial in Hollywood Cemetery in McComb.

Visitation is Wednesday from 4 until 7:30 p.m. at Wilson FuneralHome.

Mrs. Fortenberry, 93, died Jan. 11, 2010, at Lawrence CountyHospital. She was born in McComb on Dec. 8, 1916, to George ErenstMiddleton and Leta McPhail Middleton.

She was a retired teacher having taught at Monticello ElementarySchool. She was a member of Monticello Baptist Church. Mrs.Fortenberry was also a charter member of the Monticello Women’sClub, a member of the Riverside Garden Club and COTRIE Club. Shealso was a longtime teacher of a primary Sunday school class andVacation Bible School at Monticello Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Harold C.Fortenberry; and a brother, Glynn Middleton.

Survivors are her daughters, Janice Dear and husband, Butch, ofMonticello, and Lynn Mayfield and husband, Billy, of Fort WaltonBeach, Fla.; her three grandchildren, David Mayfield, Kristi Delzerand Laura Mayfield; and her five great-grandchildren.
