Claiborne rallies past Brookhaven

NATCHEZ – Claiborne County rallied for four runs in the seventhinning to nip the Brookhaven All Stars 21-20 in the Dixie Boys14-year-old Tournament Saturday night. Claiborne outhit Brookhaven14-11 and Brookhaven committed 9 errors to Claiborne’s 3.

In the other game Saturday, Natchez roared past Franklin County14-1.

Brookhaven faces Franklin County tonight at 8 p.m. in the losersbracket. Claiborne County meets Copiah at 6 p.m.

Clairborn 21, Brookhaven 20

For Brookhaven, Brooks Hall and Adam Ogden led with a home runapiece in the fifth inning for three and two RBI respectively.Kenny Smith doubled for two RBI. Ogden also singled twice. Hall,Jonathon Strong, Scotty Smith, John Wayne Havard and Josh Patrickhit safely.

Johnny Smith was the winning pitcher and Hall was the loser.

Natchez 14, Franklin 1

Luke Ogden posted the win with six strikeouts and twowalks. Tyler Cummings absorbed the loss with four strikeouts andthree walks.

Glen Williams went 5-for-5 for Natchez, including twohome runs, a double and two singles.

“It wasn’t a pretty sight,” said Franklin coach LynnPosey. “We hope to do better tonight againstBrookhaven.”

Leading Franklin with a single was Cummins.
