Eloise Tippins Becker died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, in Macon,Ga. at the age of 94. Mrs. Becker had lived in Macon for five yearshaving moved from Brookhaven where she lived all her married life.After graduating from Newcomb College in New Orleans she came toBrookhaven to teach Latin in 1930. She was preceded in death by herdevoted husband of 66 years Jasper Benoit Becker. She was thedaughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Henry Keener Tippins of Geneva,Ala., and sister to the late Marjorie Tippins Williams and IdaWilliams Tippins Segrest.

Mrs. Becker was active in the First United Methodist Church andwas honored as a 50 year member and past president of the King’sDaughters Willing Hearts Circle. She was a member and pastpresident of the Climbers’ Club, a participant in the library’sbook discussion group, and several bridge groups. She was wellknown for her metal flower artistry and was asked to display abouquet of these flowers at an art exhibit of Mississippi womenartists in Jackson. Her friendly, loving, and outgoing personalitywill be missed by her many friends and family members. Of thetwelve children of F.F. and Mary McGrath Becker and their spouses,she was the last survivor. She always enjoyed being a member ofthat large clan.

Mrs. Becker is survived by her brother, Dr. Henry Keener TippinsJr. of Pensacola, Fla.; her daughters, Marjorie BeckerO’Shaughnessey of Macon, and Judith Becker Andry of New Orleans,La.; her son Dr. Jasper B. Becker Jr. of Winter Park, Fla.; hergrandchildren, Margaret O’Shaughnessey of Durham, N.C., MaryO’Shaughnessey Stone of Nashville, Tenn., John O’Shaughnessey IIIof Macon, Kathleen O’Shaughnessey Swann of Atlanta, Ga., MichaelO’Shaughnessey of Atlanta, Jeanie Becker Taylor of Houston, Texas,Jap Becker III of Burlington, N.C., Amy Becker Raub of Orlando,Fla., Ben Becker of Orlando, Elizabeth Becker McIntosh of DrippingSprings, Texas, Allain Andry IV of Davidson, N.C., Katie AndryCrosy of New Orleans, Michael Andry of Ashville, N.C., andtwenty-seven great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Sept. 25 at 2 p.m. atthe First United Methodist Church of Brookhaven with the Rev. TommyGilbert officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery atRose Hill.

Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 p.m. at Brookhaven FuneralHome.

Pallbearers will be Allain and Michael Andry, Jap and BenBecker, and John and Michael O’Shaughnessey.
