Authorities quelled several student fights Monday at EnterpriseAttendance Center on Highway 583.

“We had several incidents where students decided the campus wasthe place to settle their differences,” said Principal ShannonEubanks, who issued a strong warning against such behavior. “We’renot going to put up with that kind of nonsense.”

In the fall, Eubanks said, letters were sent to parentsexpressing concerns about scuffles at the school and officials’intention to contact law enforcement if problems persisted. Eubankssaid students apparently decided to test that theory Monday.

Eubanks did not know the exact number of students who werecharged with disturbing the peace. He said all were in grades 7-12,but he did not release their names.

The principal said there were no serious injuries other than the”typical scrapes” associated with fighting.

The fights appeared to stem from “personal issues” amongstudents carried over from the weekend, Eubanks said. The sheriff’sdepartment daily log showed three reports of fighting and onecomplaint at Enterprise.

“It happened at different times of the day,’ Eubanks said.”There was no rhyme or reason to it.”

Eubanks said Enterprise has good students and school officialsstrive to maintain a safe and orderly campus. He said parents haveexpressed appreciation for those efforts.

In the future, Eubanks indicated that any other incidents likeMonday’s would be dealt with in a similar fashion.

“If they need to try to settle their problems, they don’t needto come to school and fight about it,” Eubanks said.
