Bears Crush Eagles

The West Lincoln Lady Bears crushed the South Pike Lady Eagles10-0 in Thursday night slowpitch softball action.

“It is nice to get the win,” said West Lincoln head coach AndrewRedd. “We started off slow, but we managed to hit the ballbetter.”

The Lady Bears will host a softball tournament Saturday featuringBrookhaven, Bogue Chitto, McComb and South Pike. West Lincoln willplay at Lawrence County on Monday. Junior varsity will start at 5p.m., followed by varsity at 6.

West Lincoln 10, South Pike 0

Jessica Franklin provided a strong pitching performance collectingtwo strikeouts and allowing no walks in the shutout.

The Lady Bears (3-3) was led by Karli Herrington and MarissaPruski, which produced the offensive firepower collecting a tripleand a double apiece. Haley Ainsworth, Katie Hester and Franklincontinued fueling the flames with a double and a single apiece.Micah Redd collected two singles. Hitting safely were Katie Mullinsand Heather Moak.

In JV action, West Lincoln cruised to a 10-1 win over the LadyEagles.

Ashley Thomas, Britnee Blakeney, Millane Lewis and Hanna Moak hitsafely for the Lady Bears.
