Co-Lin’s Case named Region Coach of Year

WESSON — For the second straight year, Copiah-Lincoln CommunityCollege Head Baseball Coach Keith Case has been selected NJCAARegion 23 Coach of the Year.

Case enters his 19th year as a head baseball coach, the lastnine years with the Wolfpack. He joined the Co-Lin athleticdepartment in 1991 after a successful career in the Mississippihigh school ranks.

This year’s Wolfpack had an overall record 34-26 and finished asNJCAA Region 23 Champions and NJCAA Central District Division IIrunners-Up.

During the last nine years, Co-Lin has participated in six NJCAARegional Tournaments. The 2000 squad posted a best-ever 47-17record and a fourth place finish in their first-ever appearance inthe NJCAA Division II World Series. Case was selected Coach of theYear for the NJCAA Region 23 in 1998 and 2000. ABCA/Diamond SportsCompany named Case 2000 NJCAA Division II Regional Coach of theYear. Louisville Slugger also awarded Case with its excellence incoaching award in 1998.

Baseball teams under Coach Case have won over 380 games duringhis career. Teams have won conference, division and statechampionships during Coach Case’s 18 years. The Co-Lin program hasbecome nationally ranked in the last eight years foraccomplishments on the field.

National rankings have also come for the Wolfpack’saccomplishments in the classroom as the 2000 squad finished fourthin the nation in 2000 and sixth in the nation in 1999.

Case holds a bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State Universityand a master’s degree from William Carey College. He has completedadditional studies at Mississippi College and the University ofSouthern Mississippi.

A native of Tryus, Case is a graduate of Monticello High School.He is married to the former Susan Caffey of Jackson. They have twodaughters, Macie, 10 and Ras, 2.
