BA girls trounce Tensas

NATCHEZ — Guard Kelli Byrd pumped in 18 pints and centerKristian Davidson added 16 as the Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougarswhipped Tensas (La.) Academy 73-31 Tuesday night in the ACCS TipoffTournament. The Lady Cougars roared to a 42-14 halftime lead.

“I was pleased with our shooting percentage,” said BA coachBarry Gray, referring to his team’s 51 percent field goal accuracy.”Everybody got to play and they played well.”

Gray’s girls, defending MPSA Overall Tournament champions,resume tournament play Thursday night, meeting Parklane Academy.The junior varsity plays at 6:30, followed by the varsity at7:45.

On the backboards, Davidson led the way with 7 rebounds. AllysonPickett had 4 rebounds and Mallory Logan 3.

Logan dished out 6 assists. Maddie Allen and Lauren Smith eachmade 4 assists. Byrd contributed 4 steals. Logan and Smith both had3 steals.

Tensas got 13 points from Aubrey McEachor.

In the JV game, BA posted a 46-21 victory overTrinity Episcopal, led by Drew Holland Tigner’s 21 points and 3rebounds. Betsy Lynch chipped in 12 points. Brady had 6rebounds.

Eleven points by Brandi Hall led Trinity in scoring.
