In other Lincoln County action, Enterprise visits Richland andWest Lincoln invades Mt. Hermon, La.

Brookhaven and Bogue Chitto have open dates this week.

Last week, Loyd Star knocked off Bogue Chitto 46-13 in therenewal of the Possum Bowl while North Pike fell to McComb39-21.

Loyd Star coach Ryan Ross said his Hornets (4-0) are battlingthe flu bug and injuries.

“We have another sick bug going around again,”‘ explained Ross.”Tradareous Wilson and Marquis Hayes are sick. Joe Shelby ishurting with the AC sprain in his throwing shoulder. We maybe goingwith Cory Allen this week at quarterback.”

Ross talked with North Pike head coach Mike Smith and passed onthis report about the Jags.

“North Pike is very talented bunch,” said Ross. “They have agreat set of skill guys, along with veteran quarterback RevisButler.

“They look like a good sound football team,” continued Ross.”They have good, big-play scoring potential. They fly to thefootball on defense and get after it. We have a real test thisweek. We’re fighting sickness, injuries and suspensions.”

In the win over Bogue Chitto, Hayes sparked the Loyd Starrunning game with 12 carries for 90 yards and scored 3 touchdowns.Rushing 9 times for 76 yards and 2 TDs was Wilson.

The Hornet defense was led by T.J. Floyd with 10 tackles.

North Pike, comes into Friday’s game 2-2 on the season. TheSummit-based Jags put together 272 yards on the night in the lossto McComb.

In the loss to McComb, Butler connected to Tonnie Collins on27-yard and 48-yard passes for a pair of late touchdowns.

Enterprise handed Cathedral a 13–6 loss last Friday. TheFighting Yellow Jackets hit the road to face Richland. Enterprise,coached by Wayne Rogers, improved to 2-1 on the season with thewin.

Winless Richland fell to unbeaten McLaurin 15-7 last week.

“Richland is 0-4, but their opponents have a combined record of15-1,” said Rogers. “They will be the biggest team we have playedall year. They’ve got some big old kids. They have pretty goodrunning backs. They run a lot of spread offense and try to spreadyou out. It’s their homecoming.

“I like our chances,” added Rogers. “It will be a good ballgame. We are playing a 4A school. We’re stepping up to biggercompetition. It will be a good game for us.”

In the victory over Cathedral, Enterprise quarterback CodyBrister rushed the football 22 times for 79 yards and a touchdown.Brister also completed 2 of 4 passes for 28 yards including at23-yard pass to Garrett Greer for a TD.

Defensively, Travis Leggett powered the Jackets with 13 tackles,including 1 for a loss. Larkin Smith made 10 stops.

West Lincoln is on the road to meet winless Mt. Hermon, La.after losing to Pelahatchie 33-12 last week. The Bears (1-2) arecoached by Chris Calcote. The Yellow Jackets (0-2) are coached byChristopher Fussell.

“We don’t know a lot about Mt. Hermon,” explained Calcote. “Theyare like us. We should match up with them. They lost to Salem 14-6last week.

“But we feel good about it. We need to give a good effort onboth sides of the ball.”

In the loss to Pelahatchie, West Lincoln’s Trey Moore caught a40-yard pass from Dee Price for the first TD. Calvin Kees rushed 12yards for the second touchdown.

Defensively, Garrett Rushing and Grant Rushing led theBears.
