LAUREL — Lawrence County has split its first two games here inthe Dixie Pre-Majors State Tournament being played at Lonnie J.Hosey Field. Lawrence County whipped Cleveland 10-0 Saturday, butdropped a 16-2 decision to Desoto County Sunday.

Lawrence County 10, Cleveland 0

Toby Smith tripled twice and Nick Jackson doubled twice to leadLawrence County. Trent Hartzog and Jonathan Stephens added doublesand Marty Ballard singled.

Evans went the first three innings and got the win. Hartzog cameon in the fourth and McKenzie Wood entered in the sixth. AndyMurphy singled twice for Cleveland. Will Worthington added asingle.

James Winters started and took the loss. Ricky Carson, TrippBufkin and Justin Payne pitched in relief.

Desoto County 16, Lawrence County 2

Desoto County led 3-1 after two, 4-1 after three, 8-1 after fourand 11-2 after six.

Ricky Dodson, Blake Trusty and Brandon Taylor had two singleseach for Desoto County. Kyle Alridge added a double, with RidgeBass, Chris Haley and Adam Hudson getting singles.

Alridge was the starter and winner, while Hudson pitched inrelief. Joseph Evans, Trent Hartzog, Jonathan Stephens, Toby Smith,Nick Jackson and

Justin Hewitt singled for Lawrence County.

Hartzog took the loss, while Stephens, McKenzie Woods, Hewittand Marty Ballard pitched in relief.
