Warren Central nips BHS girls

VICKSBURG – The Warren Central Lady Vikings edged the BrookhavenLady Panthers 2-1 in nine innings Thursday night in slowpitchsoftball action.

“We were very flat,” said BHS head coach Lisa Covington. “We needto regroup and get ready for the playoffs.”

The Panthers (16-8, 3-0) resume action Tuesday, hosting the WestJones Lady Mustangs for the first round best-of-three series in theMHSAA slowpitch softball playoffs. Brookhaven hopes to defend their5A South State championship.

Katie Hinson (0K, 0BB) collected the win for Warren Central. BrookeHosick (0K, 0BB) absorbed the loss for Brookhaven.

Sarah Ayers and Hosick led the Panthers’ offense with two singlesapiece. Hitting safely were Erica Bridwell, Emily Freeman andRashana Stewart.
