Police Department commended for help

Dear Editor:

I would like to thank the hard working men and women of the Brookhaven Police Department. I know that you don’t always get the appreciation or recognition that you both earn and deserve. I just want you all to know that you are appreciated.

My daughter had a crime committed against her when my wife and I were too far away to help. Officer George M. Lambright arrived on the scene and assessed the situation and called me.

He was the epitome of professionalism and compassion. He comforted my child when I couldn’t be there to do it, wrapped up the crime scene and escorted her home, keeping me informed all the while. He dried up her tears with words of support and encouragement and assured her safety.

Thank you, sir.

Detective Rob Smith later contacted me within a few hours for a little more information on the case. Within just a few hours of my arrival back to Brookhaven, this amazing officer had already made arrests in the case. My daughter later told me that he had called her and also offered words of encouragement to her.

Also, thank you sir.

The BPD worked very hard to make a bad situation for a scared and upset little girl as good as they could.

With all of my heart, I can’t thank all of the men and women of the BPD for everything that they do for all of us. Especially for my daughter.

To Protect and Serve, indeed.
