Funeral services for Mary Sue Mapp Thornton, of Bogue Chitto, were 10 a.m. on Friday, July 27, at Memory Chapel in Laurel, with burial in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.

     Mrs. Thornton, 87, died July 25, 2012, at her home. She was born in Mississippi on Feb. 16, 1925, to Claude R. and Hettie Herrington Mapp.

     She was a retired seamstress and a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.

     Preceding her in death were her parents; devoted husband, Thomas Belton Thornton; and several brothers and sisters.

     Survivors are her son, Donald Wayne Thornton; daughter, Beverly Carolyn Thornton Stricklin; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
