Services for Charles Dewey “C.D.” Lofton, of Brookhaven, wereMonday, Feb. 27 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with burial in thechurch cemetery.

Mr. Lofton, 81, died Feb. 25, 2006, at his residence. He wasborn on Jan. 10, 1925, to Poley Lofton and M. L. MontgomeryLofton.

He was retired from TransOcean Drilling where he worked for 35years. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and a member ofthe Brookhaven Masonic Lodge. He served his country in the Navyduring World War II.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, Tommy Lofton;and his sister, Ann Smith.

Survivors are his wife of 62 years, Voncile Lofton, ofBrookhaven; his son, Jimmy Lofton, of Brookhaven; his sister, FayeWilliams, of Clinton; his grandchildren, Julie Crockett and ChadCrockett, both of Pelahatchie, Robby Lofton and Amy Lofton, ofBrookhaven, and Jennifer Wroten and Marc Wroten, of Birmingham,Ala.; his four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews andfriends; and his caregivers, Maggie Hudson and Peggy Porter.
