Charles Edward Harris

Services for Charles Edward Harris, of Jackson, are 11 a.m.Saturday, Aug. 11, at Rosehill Missionary Baptist Church inBrookhaven with burial in the church cemetery. Williams Mortuary isin charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday from 1 until 4 p.m. at the funeral home,with family hour from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m.

Mr. Harris, 25, died Aug. 1, 2007, in Jackson. He was born inLincoln County on Nov. 7, 1981, to Charles Edward Williams and RebaHarris Rawls.

He was disabled. He attended Brookhaven High School.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents; his aunts, RosieLee Harris and Clemetine Harris.

Survivors are his mother, Reba Harris Rawls and her husbandJames, of Brookhaven; his father, Charles Edward Williams, ofMcComb; his sisters, Shasta Harris and Shaka Harris, both ofBrookhaven; his devoted friend, Vanity Rash, of Jackson; his niece;two nephews; nine uncles; eight aunts; and other relatives andfriends.

Samuel Herring

Services for Samuel Herring, of Pattison, are 2 p.m. Saturday,Aug. 11, at Galilee A.M.E. Church in Caseyville with burial in thechurch cemetery. Williams Mortuary is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Friday from 1 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home,with family hour from 5 until 6 p.m.

Mr. Herring, 72, died Aug. 3, 2007, at his residence. He wasborn in Courtland on July 20, 1935, to Fred Herring and ClaraHerring.

He was the retired owner of Sam’s Garage. He was a member ofGalilee A.M.E. Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters and onebrother.

Survivors are his devoted companion, Mary Brown, of Pattison;his sons, Tyree Herring, of Brookhaven, and Samuel Herring II, ofIndianapolis, Ind.; his brothers, Joe Herring, of Indianapolis, andChester Herring, of Danville, Ill.; his sisters, Juanita Stewart,Joyce Damus and Claudia Ford, all of Danville; his fourgrandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Jaret Ryan Rushing

Services for Jaret Ryan Rushing, the newborn son of JeffreyBrian Rushing and Stephanie Bailey Rushing, of Brookhaven, are 4p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drivewith burial in New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery inBrookhaven.

Visitation is Saturday from 2 until 4 p.m. at the funeralhome.

The infant was born and died on Aug. 5, 2007, at MississippiBaptist Medical Center in Jackson.

Preceding him in death were his great-grandparents, V.R. Kingand Anna Lillian King, Elem Howard Rushing and Velma RebeccaRushing; and his cousin, the late Baby “Lilly” Simpson.

Survivors are his parents; his grandparents, J.B. and MarthaRushing, of Brookhaven, Steve Bailey, of Louisville, and BeverlyBailey, of Laurel; his brother, Jacob Elam Rushing, of Brookhaven;his sister, Jordan Rhea Rushing, of Brookhaven; his aunts anduncles, Stacie and Mike Williams, of Taylorsville, Brooke and WaltSimpson, of Hoover, Ala., Mandy and Brad Bailey, of Wiggins, GabeBailey, of Taylorsville, Debbie and Benny Rushing, and Sandra andChet Richardson, all of Brookhaven; his cousins, Dylan and AnnastonWilliams, Alex Simpson, Hayden Bailey, Ashlee, Cai and ClaytonRichardson, and numerous friends and relatives.

Marie Summers

Services for Marie Summers, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m. Thursday,Aug. 9, at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Monticello with burial inShady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Bogue Chitto.

Summers, 84, died Aug. 7, 2007, at Brook Manor Nursing Center.She was born on July 7, 1923, to Kie Summers and Ira Ophelia JordanSummers.

She was a retired seamstress with Kellwood Manufacturing Co.,after 23 years of service. She was a member of Shady Grove BaptistChurch. She was a member of the Daughters of the AmericanRevolution, and a former member of the East Lincoln Homemakers.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brothers, Miles,Ford and Marvin Summers; her sisters, Mildred Howell and Willie MaeCase; and her niece, Rhonda S. Vassine.

Survivors are her brothers, Jimmy T. Summers and wife Jean, andJohnny W. Summers and wife Dian, all of Ruth; and her sister, SusieNell Reid, of Brookhaven.
