Services for Prentiss Lewis, of Natchez, were held at 11 a.m. onThursday, Dec. 27, at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel inNatchez. Elder Jerald Williams Jr. and Father Mike O’Brienofficiated. Burial followed at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Mr. Lewis, 90, died Dec. 24, 2007, at his residence. He was bornin Franklin County on July 31, 1917, to Thomas David and EthelSmith Lewis.

He was a faithful member of Salem Primitive Baptist Church andthe Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a World War II Army Veteran.He retired from Johns-Manville Corporation after 30 years ofservice.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his sisters OrbieJordan, Eula Harveston and Lorine Hancock; and brothers Willie,Nolan, Hiram, Dennis and George Lewis.

Survivors are his wife of 65 years, Annie May Lewis, of Natchez;his brother, Eugene C. Lewis and wife Genie, of Natchez; a largenumber of nieces, nephews; great-nieces and -nephews;great-great-nieces and -nephews.

Pallbearers were Julius A. May Jr., Donald L. Verucchi, ThomasA. Williams, Robert E. Lewis, Randy E. Lewis and Thomas C.Hancock.

Honorary pallbearers were Robert McClatchey, Roger Lewis,Kenneth Beard, Harold Whittington, Steve Burkett, and all of hisfox hunting buddies.
