The Brookhaven American League and Wesson’s All-Stars meettonight in the championship game of the the Dixie Youth BaseballAAA North Subdistrict Six Tournament at Keystone Park. The gamestarts at 6 p.m.

Wesson remains unbeaten in the tourney. The Americans must beatWesson twice to win. If the Americans defeat Wesson, a second gamewould immediately follow.

In Tuesday night’s games, the Americans eliminated the Nationals8-2 and Wesson put away Natchez 8-5.

Americans 8, Nationals 2

The Americans took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. The Nationalstied it 2-all in the top of the second but the Americans answeredwith 6 runs and took an 8-2 lead. Both teams had 10 hits.

“We played together and had good defense,” said American managerWinky Brown. “My guys gave a 100 percent effort.”

The winning pitcher was Daniel Forehand with 5 strikeouts and 1walk. Credited with the save was Caleb Yarborough with nostrikeouts and 1 walk.

The losing hurler was Clay Crozier with 3 strikeouts and 5walks.

“We did not give up,” said Nationals manager Keith Dorman.”Every time we hit it (baseball), it went straight to theirplayers. They hit the ball well. The Americans have a goodteam.”

Powering the Americans at the plate with a triple and a singlewas Yarborough. Caleb Brown singled 3 times. Duncan Bane doubled.Seth Farmer and Josh Herring singled.

Connor Dorman led the Nationals with a double and a single.Hayden Brownlee and Alex Neal both singled twice. Peyton Flowers,Collin Hall, Clay Crozier and Lee Knapp hit safely.

Wesson 8, Natchez 5

Errors played a big role as Natchez made 3 and Wesson just 1Tuesday night.

Natchez took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Wesson scored 2runs in the top of the second but Natchez added another run to tiethe game at 2-all.

The game remained tied 5-all at the end of the third after bothteams collected 3 runs each. Following a scoreless fourth, Wessonscored 1 run to take a 6-5 lead in the top of the fifth and added 2more runs in the sixth to secure the win over Natchez.

“My starting pitcher pitched an excellent game,” said Wessonmanager Jerry Hood. “My boys started hitting the ball like theyshould. Natchez has a good team and this was a big win for us.”

Posting the victory on the mound was Mac McQuage with 4strikeouts and no walks. Mack Smith struck out 4 and walked nonefor the save.

Trey Fleming absorbed the loss with 2 strikeouts and 2 walks forNatchez. Also seeing action was Lester Wells with 4 strikeouts and2 walks.

“It was a good game,” said Natchez coach Ben Hewitt. “Both teamsplayed defense and both hit the ball. We had one bad inning andthey did not. Wesson has good pitchers. We had too manyerrors.”

Wesson was led by Peyton Hood with a double and a pair ofsingles. Jase Alexander doubled and singled. Doubling was ConnerLowery. C.J. Viramontez, Mack Smith, Jonah Henderson and ColbyPorter singled.

For Natchez, Quinton Logan led with a home run. Trey Fleming,Lester Wells and Ben Hewitt ripped 2 singles apiece. Hitting safelywere Cameron Farmer, Kaleb Watts, Peyton Laird and KennethJordan.
