Karla Beth Hux fired in 12 points Thursday night to lead thehost Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets to a 41-35 win over the LoydStar Lady Hornets in Division 6-2A varsity basketball action.

In the boys game, DeAndre Butler pumped in 22 points and grabbed4 rebounds to direct the unbeaten Hornets to a 75-54 victory overthe Jackets.

The Enterprise boys begin play Saturday, Dec. 26, in the DexterTournament. Loyd Star begins play in the South Pike Tournament onMonday, Dec. 28. The boys meet Alpha Christian at 4:30 p.m. and thegirls face South Pike at 6.

Enterprise 41, Loyd Star 35

“I am so proud of my girls,” said Enterprise girls coach JillNations. “They have improved so much over the past year. I am gladto get our first win in district this year.”

The Enterprise girls (7-5, 1-0) got added support from Lacey Orrwith 10 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Taylor Nelson collected8 rebounds.

“We’ve got to get more consistent,” said Loyd Star girls coachBilly Vaughn. “We also have got to make free throws. But ourdefense did well.”

The Loyd Star girls (1-10, 0-1) got 10 points apiece fromTyrisha Patterson and Leah Britt. Patterson led off the backboardswith 11 rebounds and a pair of blocked shots. Pulling down 9rebounds was Anna Brooks.

Loyd Star 75, Enterprise 54

“Our defense was good,” said Loyd Star boys coach Gene (Moochie)Britt. “We managed to get easy baskets. Overall, I was proud of oureffort. We’re glad to get the win before the holidays.”

The Hornets (10-0, 1-0) got added support from Glenn Thomas with17 points, 3 rebounds and 7 steals. Scoring 16 points and making 6steals was Julious Whittaker. Finishing with 13 points was McKinleyHamilton.

“We played good in spurts,” stated Enterprise boys coach JohnKnight. “We have to learn to do a better job handling theirpressure. We’ve got to get ready for Dexter’s tournament onSaturday, Dec. 26.”

The Jackets (8-6, 0-1) got 15 points from Robert Bailey.Collected 14 points was Thomas Allen. Grabbing 8 rebounds was SamFurr.

The Enterprise girls knocked off Loyd

Star 37-26. Leading the Lady Jackets with 13 points was MarlaeCase. Jessica Wilson scored 8 points.

The Lady Hornets got 8 points from Kenbrianna Whittaker and 6from Victoria Cupit.

The Enterprise boys crushed Loyd Star 30-16. Dylan Durr netted 9points for the Jackets followed by Tanner Allen with 8.

Austin West paced the Hornets with 6 points
