Services for Louis “L.C.” Childs Sr., of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.Saturday, July 16 at St. James M.B. Church with burial in HillcrestCemetery.

Visitation is Friday from noon until 5 p.m. at R.E. TylerFuneral Home.

Mr. Childs, 71, died July 11, 2005, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born on May 7, 1934, to Robert Childs and Janie WebbChilds.

He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He later drove theschool bus for Lindsey Headstart Center. He was a graduate ofAlexander High School and served in the Army. He was a member ofSt. James M.B. Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother, Henry LeeChilds; and his stepfather, Equal Young.

Survivors are his wife, Jacquline Childs, of Brookhaven; hisdaughters, Theresa Childs, of Brookhaven, and Roslyn Childs, ofChicago; his sons, Michael Childs, of Calif., Raymond Childs, ofWaukegan, Ill., Louis Childs Jr., of Joliet, Ill., Clifford Childs,of Brookhaven, Greg Childs, of Chicago, and Thomas Childs, ofChicago; his sisters, Sarah Pendleton, of Hazlehurst, Evelyn Baker,of New Orleans, and Mary Johnson, of Hazlehurst; his brothers,Robert Lee Childs and John Lee Childs, both of Brookhaven; 17grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
