Funeral services for Jacqueline B. “Jack” Porter, of Brookhaven,are 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 30, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel onNatchez Drive with burial in New Prospect Baptist Church Cemeteryin Brookhaven. Ken Kirk and her grandson, Mark Byrd, willofficiate.

Visitation is Sunday from 1 until 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Porter, 82, died Jan. 29, 2011, at Southwest MississippiRegional Medical Center in McComb. She was born in Brookhaven onMay 26, 1928, to Thomas J. Ballard and Frank McBride Ballard.

She was a homemaker who loved gardening and cooking. Her favoritething to do was sit and color with her great-granddaughters. Shewas a member of New Prospect Baptist Church, where she kept thechildren’s nursery for many years.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Paul T.Porter; and her sister, Frances Jean Ballard.

Survivors are her daughters, Paula Buford and husband, Guy, ofBrookhaven, and Susan Kraft and husband, Ronnie, of McComb; hergrandchildren, Mary Byrd and husband, Mark, Richard Kraft and wife,Jenni, Paul Buford and wife, Kimberly, and Tom Buford; hergreat-granddaughters, Anna Kris and Allie Byrd, Campbell Grace andBallard Rose Kraft and Ruby Buford; and several nieces andnephews.

Pallbearers will be Richard Kraft, Paul Buford, Tom Buford, MarkByrd, Guy Buford and Ronnie Porter. Honorary pallbearer will be RonKraft.
