Shopper gets extra bucks to spend on grandchildren

A Brookhaven man’s grandchildren will soon benefit from hisluck.

F. D. Moore plans to spend most of his $200 in Hometown Bucks onhis two grandsons, Jake and Ben, who live in Tupelo.

“I’d rather spend the money on them than myself. I enjoy buyingfor my grandchildren,” said Moore, when he became the fifth winnerin the DAILY LEADER’S Hometown Christmas promotion.

Shopping for their grandchildren is a favorite activity forMoore and his wife, Joyce. They are looking forward to returning toLofton’s to complete their grandsons’ Christmas wish list.

“When my wife found out I had won, she said, ‘Oh good. We get togo shopping some more,'” said Moore, adding that she didn’t knowyet, but he was planning to spend some of the “bucks” on herChristmas.

Hometown Bucks can be spent at any of the participatingmerchants, which include:

* Brookwood Gifts and Antiques

* Lofton’s Sporting Goods

* Millane’s

* Rushing Boots and Shoe Shop

* Shipp’s Florist

* Susan’s Shoppe

* T.H. Perkins Furniture Company

* Trustmark National Bank

* Walls Lumber and Supply Company

The 10th Annual Hometown Christmas is an effort of the DAILYLEADER and area merchants to encourage shoppers to buy locally inorder to benefit the community.

Shoppers may register at any of the participating merchants byusing the special entry forms and boxes on display. Shoppers mayenter as many times as they would like.

There will be three more drawings for $200 in Hometown Bucks,with a grand prize drawing for $600 in Hometown Bucks on Friday,December 15.

Employees of the DAILY LEADER are not eligible to win. Employeesof participating merchants may not register at their respectivebusiness, but they may register at any of the other participatingbusinesses.
