Muriel Harrigill Dale passed from this life on March 30, 2013 at age 60. She was a loyal, active and faithful member of Victory Congregational Methodist Church in Florence, which she loved ever so deeply.

Muriel was a registered organ donor and requested that her remains be cremated. A memorial service is to be scheduled at a later time at her church, but her burial service will be private.

Muriel was born on Sept. 23, 1952. She was a graduate of Brookhaven High School and secured her college degree in library science from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Muriel’s vocation was traditionally in the medical field; she was working in the Medical Records Department at the University Medical Center (UMC) in Jackson in 1985 when Dr. Winsor Morrison, chief of the Division of Otolaryngology, recruited her to work with him. Following Dr. Morrisons’s retirement in 1993, Muriel continued to work with the new division chief, Dr. Vinod K. Anand, until her retirement from UMC in 2001; thereafter, she joined Dr. Anand in his private medical practice at the Colonnades at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, where she was working at the time of her passing. Muriel had planned to retire in June.

The many lives of those Muriel touched have been forever enriched, and we all rejoice in her new life.

Her survivors include her husband, David Dale of Florence; sister, Julie Harrigill Goodyear of Savannah Tenn.; and her three brothers, Donald R. Harrigill of Brookhaven, and Alan Harrigill and Bernard Harrigill, both of Brandon; along with numerous and beloved cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, D.B. and Gertrude Harrigill, former longtime residents of Brookhaven.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorial gifts in honor of Muriel’s life to Victory Congregational Methodist Church, P.O. Box 374, Florence, MS 39073.
