Herman ‘Stubb’ Smith

Services for Herman “Stubb” Smith, of Brookhaven, are 1 p.m.Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Brookhaven withburial in the church cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home on NatchezDrive is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Smith, 85, died Aug. 6, 2007, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Lincoln County on June 14, 1922, to NoahSmith and Lou Smith Smith.

He was a retired equipment operator with Oddee Smith and Sonsand a United States Army veteran of World War II. He was a memberof Macedonia Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, VirgilSmith, Trenton Bill Smith and J.B. Smith; his sister, Lois Smith;and his granddaughter, Lisa Bullock.

Survivors are his wife, Virgie Smith, of Brookhaven; hisdaughters, Diane Sumerlin and husband Lou, of Mobile, Ala., WandaBullock and husband Jerry, and Pam Price and husband Jimmy, all ofBrookhaven; his sisters, Juanita Castilaw, of Brookhaven, andEarline Britt, of Magee; his seven grandchildren and 14great-grandchildren.
