In an exciting match marked by fair play and sportsmanship, theCo-Lin Wolves lost to Itawamba, 6-1, in their first game of theevening.

“They (Itawamba) came out strong and we were never able tobounce back,” said Co-Lin coach Hanna Waldham. Itawamba netted thefirst goal at the six-minute mark of the game but Co-Lin answeredwhen Brookhaven’s Chris Bale scored the equalizer in the eighthminute. However, Itawamba soon overpowered the Wolves and “neverlooked back,” said Coach Waldham.

J. J. Burns scored four of Itawamba’s goals and Dustin Green andEric

Taylor each scored one goal.

Hinds Destroys Wolves

In the second game, Hinds beat Co-Lin from the onset sending theWolves home with their worst defeat of the season, 11-0. Hinds,usually one of the tougher opponents faced by junior colleges inthe state, roared to an 8-0 half-time lead before easing up theirattack.

Goalkeepers Josh Cavanaugh and Charles Davis combined to stop 27of 38 shots on goal. The Wolves only managed 3 shots on goal theentire game.

Lady Wolves Fall

The Lady Wolves were outplayed and easily overpowered bytop-ranked Hinds, 6-0, suffering their second defeat of the season.Starting the game sluggishly, Co-Lin was outgunned by Hinds butmanaged to hold the score to 3-0 at the half.

“We kept our form and minimized their scoring opportunities,”said Co-Lin cooach Carolyn DiPaolo, “but we couldn’t mount anyserious offensive attack.”

Tonya Johns of Brookhaven had the Lady Wolves only shot on goalwhile keeper Jenny Chapman of Franklin County blocked 24 shots ongoal.
