WESSON — Micah Davis has signed a baseball scholarship to playfor the Co-Lin Wolves next spring. Davis, the son of Glenn andMinta Davis, signed a football scholarship last spring to play forWolfpack.

Davis (6-2, 185) played shortstop in baseball and quarterback infootball. His father serves as Co-Lin’s head football coach.

“I enjoyed it,” said Davis about playing baseball at Wesson. “Ihad a great time.”

The Cobras finished the 2007 season 13-17 under the direction ofhead coach Hugh Knight who also serves as an assistant footballcoach.

Davis finished the season with a .434 batting average.

Davis was named Most Valuable Defensive Player during thissummer’s Mississippi High School All-Star Baseball game. He wasnamed All-District and All-Conference. He was the Cobras’ MVP.

“Micah had a good 3 years with us,” said Knight. “He isexceptional.”

Davis plans to major in business and architecture while playingtwo sports at Co-Lin. He will play in the MAC High School All-StarFootball Game later this month.

“I am looking forward to playing for Coach (Keith) Case,” saidDavis. “I am excited about playing two sports.”

Case sees Davis as an infielder or an outfielder.

“Micah could make the adjustment,” said Case. “He could playanywhere on the field. He is an intelligent athlete, He’s a goodleader and a good student.”

Davis says he appreciates the coaches help and his parentssupport during his playing time at Wesson.

“I’d like to thank all of the coaches and the parents,” saidDavis.

Knight said that Davis plays the infield well. “Micah is one ofthe best defensive players I’ve had. He is a hard hitter. He iscapable of hitting better. He has great knowledge of the game. I amproud for him. He can play any infield position.”

Knight believes Davis could do well in both sports.

“Micah played football as well, ” added Knight. “He is that typeof athlete.”

Case agreed. “Micah is a true athlete in football andbaseball.”
