Co-Lin sweeps E. Central

WESSON – The Co-Lin Lady Wolves (8-1) won their first SouthDivision test of the season Monday night, beating East CentralCommunity College’s Lady Warriors 76-71 in Mullen Gymnasium. Theywere powered by Shareka Hunt and Rachel Vigers who scored 24 and 22points respectively.

In the men’s game, Co-Lin also found success as the Wolves beatEast Central 62-59, sparked by guards Rob Wallace and Trent Hutchinwith 20 and 19 points respectively.

Co-Lin resumes play Saturday at Northeast in Booneville, startingat 1 p.m. with the women’s game. The men’s game tips off at 3p.m.

On Tuesday, Dec. 16, Co-Lin entertains Delgado of New Orleans inits final action before the Christmas holidays.

Co-Lin 76, East Central 71

“We played really good,” said Co-Lin women’s coach Gwyn Young. “Forthe whole game, we played extremely hard on defense.

“In six minutes of the second half we played extremely well ondefense,” Young continued. “We made some good plays. It was a bigwin for us.”

Co-Lin guard Rhonda Dumas hit a late field goal to give Co-Lin a3-point lead.

Hunt, a freshman from Franklin County, played exceptionally welloffensively. She hit 11 of 16 field goal attempts for 22 points.She also had 8 rebounds and 4 steals.

Vigers, a sophomore guard from Baton Rouge, La., was 9 of 15 fromthe field. She made 5 of 6 free throws. She also had 3 assists.

Guard TeArra Wilbert dished out 5 assists and made 3 steals.

East Central (7-4) got 24 points from Rashima Jenkins and 20 fromMystee Dale.

Co-Lin 62, East Central 59

Lewanski Newsome added 15 points to the victory as they raisedtheir record to 5-5 overall and 1-0 in the South Division.

Coach Dennis Sims directed his team to a 24-21 halftime lead.

East Central (5-6) got 14 points from Antonio Grace and 12 fromJosh Luckett.
