Gary Magee was born on June 21, 1954, in Brookhaven, and passedaway on August 31, 2010, at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospitalin Jackson after a brief, but very serious battle with kidneycancer. Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon is in charge of theservice, with visitation being from 5 until 8 p.m. on Thursday,Sept. 2, at the funeral home. Services are at Pinelake Church onFriday Sept. 3, at 10 a.m., with interment at Lakeland Place GardenPark Cemetery.

Gary was a real estate appraiser and a graduate of Pearl HighSchool and the University of Southern Mississippi, where hecompleted his MBA degree. He was a member of the AppraisalInstitute, The Mortgage Bankers Association, The National Assn. ofRealtors Appraisal Division, The Miss. Assn. of Realtors CommercialDivision, The Flowood Chamber of Commerce, The Central Miss. USMAlumni Chapter, where he served as a volunteer, and the RankinCounty Republican Party. He was a member of Pinelake Church. He wasan avid supporter of Golden Eagle Athletics, especially football,and his hobbies included golf and fishing.

Gary is survived by his wife of 31 years, Nancy Hawkins Magee, anda daughter Paige Lofton Magee, both of Brandon. He is also survivedby his parents, S.E. and Helen Magee, of McCall Creek; his brotherLarry Magee (Cathy) of Dallas, Texas, and brother, Dr. Steve E.Magee Jr. (Janet), of Brandon. He is also survived by his nephews,Edward Magee (Jessica) and Michael Magee (Erin), both of Dallas,Brian (Tiffany) Hawkins, of Ridgeland, Jeremy (Carla) Phillips ofRichland, Adam Phillips, of Terry; and one niece, Erin HawkinsAguilar, of Crystal Springs.

Pallbearers are Paul Hawkins of Gallman, Brian Hawkins ofRidgeland, Bob Collins of Daphne, Ala., Steve Walker of Biloxi, PatWylie of Birmingham, Ala. and Mike Hammer of Baltimore, Md.

Honorary pallbearers are the members of The Appraisal Institute,Members of the Mississippi Appraisal Board, and the USM EagleClub.

The family would like to thank all the caring individuals at St.Dominic Cancer Center and hospital, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center,and the oncology floor at St. Dominic, as well as all the friendsand family who helped keep the prayer vigil going.
