Enterprise girls conquer Lady ‘Cats in showdown

BOGUE CHITTO – The Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets beat BogueChitto 11-4 Tuesday in a fastpitch softball showdown. Nicole Floyd(4-4) pitched the victory, striking out 1 batter, walking 2 andallowing 6 hits.

Enterprise improved to 5-5 overall and 3-1 in district play.

Directing the Lady Jackets was catcher Lacey Palomarez with atriple, a double and a single. She undergoes shoulder surgery todayin Jackson to repair a nagging injury.

Shortstop Ashley Palomarez doubled and singled. Designatedhitter Brandi Beeson singled twice. Centerfielder Emily Smithsingled.

“The key is walks,” said Enterprise coach Steve Sasser. “Mypitcher is averaging 2 walks a game. Nicole can throw strikes.

“We played real well on defense,” added Sasser. “It was a bigwin for us.”

Enterprise plays again Monday at Wesson.

Enterprise took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. The Jacketsscored 4 runs in the fourth and plated 3 in the seventh to cementthe win.

Bogue Chitto trailed 5-3 after three innings.

At the plate, the Lady ‘Cats were led by pitcher Meleah Brownwho doubled and singles. Centerfielder Amanda Wallace doubled.Marley Porter, Randi Moak and Karen Wallace singled.

On the mound, Brown struck out 4 batters and walked 3.
