A Loyd Star Attendance Center junior is dead after a one-vehicleaccident on Bouie Mill Road Thursday around noon, officialssaid.

Lincoln County Coroner Clay McMorris said Kathryn Barras, 17, of33312 Durr Case Trail, was killed Thursday when the Chevroletpickup truck she was driving overturned on Bouie Mill Road.

McMorris said Barras and her 14-brother Scott were on their wayhome from school when the accident occurred.

“She had just gotten through with tests and was heading home,that’s when the wreck occurred,” McMorris said.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Johnny Hallsaid details of the accident are still unclear.

“It looks like she just went into that curve and lost control ofthe vehicle,” Hall said.

Scott Barras was taken by ambulance to King’s Daughters MedicalCenter where he was treated and released.

Hall said it is always tragic when a young person dies.

“Of course the family is in our thoughts and prayers,” hesaid.

Kathryn Barras’ arrangements are being handled by RiverwoodFamily Funeral Service.

Visitation is Saturday from 5 until 9 p.m., and the funeral is 2p.m. Sunday at the Riverwood Chapel with burial at Mt. MoriahBaptist Church.
