John E. Scarff

John E. Scarff, 80, died Jan. 2, 2007, at St. Dominic – JacksonMemorial Hospital in Jackson. Funeral services are 2 p.m. today,Jan. 5, at Stringer Family Chapel in Hazlehurst with burial in theSpring Hill Cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Services inHazlehurst is handling the arrangements.

Mr. Scarff was born February 22, 1926, to the late John andGertrude Scarff Jr. He was a loving husband to Patricia. Theyresided in the Hazlehurst/Wesson area for the past 13 years andwould have been married 40 years in February. Mr. Scarff wasretired from the Navy after 21 years and a Civil Service policeofficer for 14 years. He was a lifetime member of the NRA.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Logan Scarff; sons, DaneScarff, of Augusta, Ga., and Wade Scarff, of Pensacola, Fla.;daughters, Lisa Hampton, of Hazlehurst, Sheryl Loper, of Newark,Texas, and Toni Barrett, of Sand Flats, Texas; brother, RichardScarff, of Brashear, Mo.; 11 grandchildren and twogreat-grandchildren.

Jasper ‘Butch’ Walker

Services for Jasper “Butch” Walker, of Wesson, were Sunday, Dec.24, at Community Funeral Services Chapel with burial in SpringhillPentecostal Church Cemetery in Wesson.

Mr. Walker, 65, died Dec. 23, 2006, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born on April 15, 1941, to Jasper Walker and MattieHamilton.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, James L.Walker and Robert “Bobby” Walker; and his sister, Alyne Walker.

Survivors are his brother, Curtis Walker, of Elko, Nev.; hissisters, Lou Ellen Walker, of Carona, Calif., Edith Tarver, ofBeaumont, Calif., and Inez Jackson, of Wesson; and host of niecesand nephews.

The family of would like to extend a special thanks to thepersonnel of the Lincoln Residential Center for the loving carethey all gave to our beloved brother Butch. Many thanks to allfamily and friends for food, flowers and prayers during our time ofsorrow.
