BC girls puts away FC

BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats slowpitch softballteam wrapped up regular season play Thursday night with a 13-3 winover the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs.

Bogue Chitto (16-10, 4-2) travels to East Webster Tuesday in theopening round of the Class 1A state playoffs. The ‘Cats are therunner up in Division 7. The game begins at 4:30 p.m.

Franklin County (16-6, 10-0) is the Division 6 champ and hostsPurvis in the opening round of the Class 3A playoffs.

“We hit the ball well,” said Bogue Chitto head coach ScottLeggett. “Our defense held on strong. We’ve got to keep playingwith that momentum and intensity next week.”

Bogue Chitto out hit Franklin County 14-5 at the plate. TheBulldogs committed 7 errors to the ‘Cats 3.

“We played with errors and we did not hit the ball well,” saidFranklin County coach Dana Smith. “We cannot win playing like that.We just did not play like we should.”

Powering Bogue Chitto with 2 singled was Holli Miller. DarcyMiller and Kelli Howard each doubled and single. Amanda Owen andToy Smith ripped 2 singles apiece. Bradi Davis, Josie Porter andBlaine Myers singled.

Myers was the winning pitcher with 1 strikeout and no walks.Mildred Starks absorbed the loss, fanning 1 batter and walkingtwo.

Laylay Griffin smashed a home run for Franklin County. Hittingsafely were KeKe Collins, Morgan Knapp, Vintrice Briggs andStarks.
