Services for Donice Peavy Carter, of Sachse, Texas, are 11 a.m.Wednesday, June 20, at First Baptist Church in Richardson, Texas.Her ashes will be buried at a graveside service at Pleasant GroveUnited Methodist Church Cemetery in Brookhaven on Friday, June 22,at 5 p.m. Charles Smith and Sons Funeral Home in Sachse is incharge of arrangements.

Visitation in Texas is Wednesday from 10 until 11 a.m. in thefoyer of First Baptist Church in Richardson. Visitation inMississippi is Friday from 4:30 until 5 p.m. at Pleasant GroveUnited Methodist Church in Brookhaven.

Mrs. Carter, 83, died June 18, 2007, at Winters Park NursingHome in Sachse. She was born in Sontag on May 5, 1924, to ColonCrawford Peavy and Izetta Harrison Peavy of Sontag andMonticello.

She was a graduate of Sontag Elementary School, Lawrence CountyHigh School and Hinds Community College. Her first job was with theOffice of Price Administration (OPA) in Monticello during World WarII. She later worked as a stenographer for Northrup Grumman in LosAngeles, Calif. She was a faithful Christian who enjoyed travelingto the Holy Land and the American West, being with her family, andwriting inspirational poetry.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, SamCarter, of Los Angeles; and her brother, LeRoy Peavy, of Houston,Texas.

Survivors are her sisters, Beth Banes, of Garland, Texas, RuthMerritt and Marie Leibold, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; her brotherJohn C. Peavy, of Brookhaven; and eight nephews and one niece.

Carolyn S. Case

Services for Carolyn S. Case, of Bogue Chitto, were 11 a.m.Tuesday, June 19, at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive withburial in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery in Caseyville.Officiating services was the Rev. Bendon Ginn.

Visitation was Monday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Case died June 17, 2007, at her residence. She was born onAug. 24, 1923, to Troy Smith and Myritis Reed Smith.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Philadelphia BaptistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Charles F.Case; her sons, Mitchell Case and Gary Case; her daughter, JoanCase; two infants; her granddaughter, Jansi Case; and herstepgrandson, Ray Jackson.

Survivors are her sons, Terry Case and wife Brenda Gail, ofCaseyville, and Kaylon Case, of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; herdaughter-in-law, Patsy M. Case, of Caseyville; her daughters,Glenda Crosby and husband Mike, of Bogue Chitto, and Pam Jacksonand husband Erwin, of Pace, Fla.; her 16 grandchildren and 25great-grandchildren.

Leonard David Posey

Services for Leonard David Posey, of Brookhaven, are 10:30 a.m.Wednesday, June 20, at Brookhaven Funeral Home on North JacksonStreet with burial in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery inBrookhaven.

Visitation is Tuesday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Posey, 82, died June 18, 2007, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Lincoln County on Dec. 5, 1924, to IraFelder Posey and Georgia Smith Posey.

He was retired from the Mississippi State Highway Department andhad worked with Stahl-Urban. He was a United States Army veteran ofWorld War II. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother, CarlPosey; and his sisters, Winnie Posey and Allie Posey Smith.

Survivors are his wife, Vivian Herring Posey, of Brookhaven; hisson, Michael Felder Posey and wife Patricia, of Brookhaven; hisdaughter, Debby Bodin and husband Glenn, of Brookhaven; hisgrandchildren, Jeffrey and Joanna Posey and Kelsey and Chet Myers,of Brookhaven; and his great-grandchildren, Claire and JustinPosey, and Caleb and Taylor Myers.

Bruce William Price

Services for Bruce William Price, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.Thursday, June 21, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel.

Mr. Price, 51, died June 17, 2007, at his residence. He was bornon Aug. 5, 1955, to Jackie B. Price and Mary Irene Smith Price.

He was a painter. He attended the First Church of theNazarene.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his belovedcompanion, Linda Pearson.

Survivors are his son, Michael Conerly, of McComb; hisstepdaughter, Aimee Pearson, of Brookhaven; his brothers, Dr.Jerome Price and wife Cindy, of Scarborough, Maine, and RobertPrice, of Brookhaven; his sisters, Shelia Graves and husband John,of McComb, Jenna Boyles, of Brookhaven, Bethany Kimery and husbandKevin, of Pearl, Melanie Roney and husband Curtis, of Ellisville,and Amy Ward and husband Terry, of York, Pa.; one grandchild; sevennephews, five nieces and six great-nephews.

Services for Ray Rushing, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m. Wednesday,June 20, at Union Hall Baptist Church in Brookhaven with burial inthe church cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in chargeof arrangements.

Mr. Rushing, 80, died June 17, 2007, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Tylertown on Nov. 13, 1926, to Daisy StinsonRushing and Fred Rushing.

He worked as an insurance agent and staff manager with Life ofGeorgia, and retired after 25 years with United Insurance Companyof America.

He served in the United States Army and in Japan. He was amember of Union Hall Baptist Church, where he served as a deaconfor 51 years. He enjoyed gardening and many happy years were spentfishing with his wife.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his infant daughter,Debra Gail Rushing; his infant grandson, Jason Michael Calcote; hissisters, Edith Boyd, Helen Aldridge, Freddie Dunaway, Mabel Cates;and his brother, Dewey Rushing.

Survivors are his wife of 59 years, Margaret Bessonette Rushing;his son, Joel Ray Rushing; his daughters, Tasha Rushing, ofEllisville, Cheryl Rushing Calcote and husband Mike; his grandsons,Brian Calcote, of Collierville, Tenn., and Chad Calcote, ofBrandon; his brother, Kenneth Rushing and wife Thelma, of Brandon;his sister-in-law, Martha Rushing, of Magee; and a host of niecesand nephews.
