Mamie Ola Cupit Jackson

Services for Mamie Ola Cupit Jackson, of Brookhaven, were 2 p.m.Sunday, June 4, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial at 3p.m. Wednesday, June 7, in Fairview Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Jackson, 70, died June 2, 2006 at Saint Dominic-JacksonMemorial Hospital. She was born in Caseyville on June 3, 1935, toJohn Hiram Cupit and Corene Smith Cupit.

She was retired from the position of manager with the HolidayInn in Brookhaven. She was a member of Mallalieu United MethodistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, AndrewJames Jackson Sr.; her brother, James “Bud” Cupit; and her sister,Sarah Musick.

Survivors are her son, Andrew James Jackson Jr. and his wife,Lisa Rials, of Brookhaven; her daughters, Elaine Jackson Spence, ofRoswell, Ga., and Victoria Jackson Crew and her husband, Chris, ofDallas, Texas; her brothers, John Henry Cupit, of Port Gibson,Wallace Cupit, of Brookhaven, and Charles “Pete” Cupit, ofHazlehurst; her sisters, Catherine Sanders, of Vicksburg, and LolaWalter, of Natchez; her grandchildren, Shawn Spence, of Roswell,Christy Jackson Kramer and her husband Chris, of Brookhaven, andMalissa Jackson, also of Brookhaven; and her great-grandchildren,Taylor Kestner, Austin Spence, Julie Kramer, Jeffrey Kramer andJordan Kramer

Hallie Mae Smith Lea

Services for Hallie Mae Smith Lea, of Brookhaven, were 2 p.m.Sunday, June 4, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel withburial in New Salem Church of Christ Cemetery.

Visitation is Saturday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Lea, 99, died May 31, 2006, at her residence. She was bornon Oct. 24, 1906, to Johnson C. Smith and Mary McGee Smith.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of New Salem Church ofChrist.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, ShereardW. Lea; her grandson, Jeffrey B. Johnson; her brothers, Claude,Clyde, Percy, Clark and Thomas Smith; and her sister, EstelleHardin.

Survivors are her son, Wallace Lea and his wife LaVetta, ofJoplin, Mo.; her daughters, Nan Oestmann and her husband Art, ofMidland, Texas, and Betty Johnston and her husband Bryant, ofBrookhaven; her brothers, Sam V. Smith and C. Denver Smith; hersister, Ina Bell McCoy; and her six grandchildren and 10great-grandchildren.
