Mary Ethel Boyd Alexander, 79, of Brookhaven, passed away at her home Friday Oct. 19, 2012 after a short bout with cancer. She was born in Pike County on Jan. 20, 1933 to Clarence and Mary Magdalene Hightower Boyd.

     Memorial Graveside Service will be held on Saturday Oct. 27, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Riverwood Memorial Park and visitation is from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

     Mrs. Alexander was employed with McComb Manufacturing in McComb, Kellwood Manfacturing in Monticello, and Shahl Urban in Brookhaven. She was a member of Felder United Methodist Church in Pike County. She loved her family, friends, tending to her flowers, country music and Atlanta Braves Baseball.

     Mrs. Alexander is preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Maggie Hightower Boyd; her husband Devon Alexander; her father and mother-in-law, Adron and Bessie Rayborn Alexander; one brother Charles Boyd; three sisters-in-law, Clytie Brister, Gladys Matthews and Helen Boyd; six brothers-in-law, Cliff McCullough, Ralph Guy, Garfield Roberts, Junior Landry, James Brister and Jewel Alexander; one niece Lisa Walters Papadimitriou; and one great nephew, Patrick Van Egdom.

     She is survived by her daughter Darlene Case and husband Jimmy; two granddaughters, Delina Smith and husband Chris and Jennifer Whittington and husband Marc; four great grandchildren, Kasi and Brody Smith and Raney and Haley Whittington, all of Brookhaven; four sisters, Marie McCullough and Judy Walters of Tylertown, Eva Coon of Jayess and Francis Landry of Slidell, La.; six brothers, Kent Boyd, Jerry Boyd, Emory Boyd and J.W. Boyd, all of McComb, Larry Boyd of Jayess and Noah Boyd of Pearl; three sisters-in-law, Laura Ruth Alexander of Summit, Lavon Boyd of McComb and Neva Matthews of Jayess; three brothers-in-law, Buck Walters of Tylertown and Earnest Coon and Charles Matthews of Jayess ;and many nieces, nephews and friends.

     In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Alexander’s family requests that memorials be made in her name to:
