Rebekah Harrigill Barrett

Rebekah Harrigill Barrett, 38, passed away on July 20, 2009, ather home in Brookhaven of heart failure due to pulmonaryhypertension.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 21, 2009, from 5 until 8p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, Brookhaven. Thefuneral service will be Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at 2 p.m. atBrookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive. Burial and gravesideservices will follow at the Fulton-Harrigill Family Cemetery inHamburg, Franklin County.

Rebekah was born in Jackson on Oct. 23, 1970, and graduated fromMt. Paran Christian High School in Marietta, Ga. She also attendedcollege at Kennesaw State and Toccoa Falls College in Georgia.Rebekah was a devoted Christian and served her church faithfully bysinging in the choirs of both Central Baptist Church and SouthwayBaptist Church of Brookhaven.

Rebekah’s beautiful smile and outgoing personality made her aremarkable and memorable employee of the Oak Tree Restaurant, T. H.Perkins Furniture, First Bank and Cellular South – all ofBrookhaven.

Her parents confirmed that God had given Rebekah so very manyheavenly gifts, not the least of which has now become her legacy toeveryone who knew her – the ability to laugh at common everydaysituations. She was a devoted and dedicated mother for her youngson, Cody Barrett Jr., whom she loved deeply.

Rebekah was preceded in death by her grandparents, formerly ofBrookhaven, Bill and Carolyn McMullen and Ann Allred McMullen, andD. B. and Gertrude Harrigill. Her survivors include: her husband,SSG Cody Barrett Sr., of Camp Shelby; her son, Cody Barrett Jr., ofBrookhaven; her mother, Betty McMullen Harrington and her husband,Jimmy, of Brookhaven; her father, Alan Harrigill and his wife, Ann,of Brandon; her grandmother, Trudy Prather Harrigill, ofHattiesburg; and numerous beloved aunts, uncles, cousins andfriends.

William Levi Langford

Services for William Levi Langford, of Hattiesburg, are 2 p.m.Tuesday, July 21, at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with burial inRoberts Memorial Cemetery in Jayess.

Mr. Langford, 87, died July 18, 2009, at Forrest GeneralHospital in Hattiesburg. He was born in Yazoo City on March 19,1922, to Robert Lee Langford and Sara Estelle Taylor Langford.

He was a retired distributor for Cam and Rose Dog Food. Mr.Langford served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He lived inJayess for 31 years then moved to Pearl River County 13 years ago.He was a member of Gum Pond Baptist Church in Pearl RiverCounty.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, BonnieJean Langford; and his numerous brothers and sisters.

Survivors are his wife, Bonnie Cole Langford, of Lumberton; ason, Barry E. Langford, of Tupelo, and a stepson, Steve Backstrom,of Lumberton; and his numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles ‘Darwin’ Pead

Services for Charles “Darwin” Pead, of West Valley, Utah, werenoon Monday, July 13, at Valley View Funeral Home Chapel withburial in Valley View Memorial Park.

Mr. Pead, 62, died July 7, 2009, after battling a terminalillness. He was born in Afton, Wyo., on Nov. 16, 1946, to DelbertPead and Myrtle Nelson Pead.

He graduated from Star Valley High School and the University ofSouthern Mississippi. He married his sweetheart, Peggy Ramona Ward,on Aug. 1, 1969, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. In his earlier years, heenjoyed fishing and hunting. He has always loved and participatedin music, including playing the guitar and singing. He loved tospend time with his family, especially his three grandsons. Mr.Pead served an L.D.S. Mission in Switzerland and later served inmany positions in his ward and stake.

Preceding him in death were parents.

Survivors are his wife, Peggy; a daughter, Teresa Durrant; hissiblings, W. Gene Pead and Edie Schroder; and his threegrandchildren.

Justin Michael Smith

Services for Justin Michael Smith, of Meadville, formerly ofBrookhaven, are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, at New Sight BaptistChurch in Brookhaven with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at Riverwood FamilyFuneral Service.

Mr. Smith, 27, died July 19, 2009, in Brookhaven. He was born onDec. 28, 1981, to Dwight Anthony Smith and Janice Mullen Smith.

He attended Brookhaven High School and Enterprise AttendanceCenter. He was owner and operator of Justin Smith Trucking. He wasa member of New Sight Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his grandfather, Billy Gene Mullen;his grandmother, Annie Carlisle Lambert; and his grandfather,George Smith.

Survivors are his mother and stepfather, Janice and Tommy JoeSmith; his father, Dwight Anthony Smith; his fiancé, Amy Rollins,of Meadville; his daughters, Palyn Mae Smith and Halley EllasSmith; a sister, Tracey Case and husband, Anthony, of Brookhaven; astepbrother, John David Smith and wife, Kelly, of Wesson; astepsister, Tracey Edwards and husband, Tim, of Brookhaven; hisgrandparents, Paul and Emma Gilbert; his stepgrandmother, GraceAllen Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family membersand dear friends.

Nellie Icie Ratcliff Ward

Services for Nellie Icie Ratcliff Ward, of Brookhaven, are 1p.m. Thursday, July 23, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter DaySaints Brookhaven Branch with burial in the Church of Jesus Christof Latter Day Saints Red Star Ward Cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at BrookhavenFuneral Home on Natchez Drive and Thursday from noon until 1 p.m.at the church.

Mrs. Ward, 87, died July 19, 2009, at Hospice Ministries inRidgeland. She was born in Brookhaven on Sept. 21, 1921, to RichardRatcliff and Ida Smith Ratcliff.

She was a homemaker. She worked at Bob’s Sandwich Shop for morethan 20 years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ ofLatter Day Saints Brookhaven Branch.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, JosephClyde Ward; her brothers, Carlos, Rance, Sidney and Aliby Ratcliff;and a sister, Beatrice Leggett.

Survivors are her sons, Michael Ward, of Monticello, and RickyWard, of Brookhaven; a daughter, Peggy Pead, of West Valley, Utah;her brothers, Versie Ratcliff and Percy Ratcliff, both ofBrookhaven; her six grandchildren; and her ninegreat-grandchildren.
