Kenneth R. Massengale

Graveside services for Kenneth R. Massengale, of Tyler, Texas,formerly of Brookhaven, are 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 at HighlandCemetery in Hattiesburg.

Mr. Massengale, died Feb. 1, 2005, at a Tyler hospital,following a brief illness.

He was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. Hebecame affiliated with Magcobar Drilling Fluids following theKorean War and remained with them for over 22 years before retiringfrom Cambridge, Ohio, to Gautier, Miss., in 1980. He and his wife,Mary, had 64 happy years together which included many inBrookhaven. Mary was associated with the DAILY LEADER during someof those years.

Mr. Massengale was a member of the Gautier United MethodistChurch, a former Rotarian, and a lifetime member of the MississippiSeniors Golf Association.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Lonnie Earl Massengaleand Bessie Hughes Massengale; a brother, Coleman A. “Mule”Massengale, all of Hattiesburg; and a 4-year old daughter, PatriciaLea Massengale.

Survivors are his wife, Mary Massengale, of Tyler; a daughter,Trudy M. Ratcliff, of Chandler, Texas; his sons, Ken Massengale, ofBrandon, and Dennis Massengale, of Tyler; seven grandchildren; andfour great-grandchildren.

Floreita Alice Boyd Nielsen

Services for Floreita Alice Boyd Nielsen, of Brookhaven, were 2p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3 at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burialin Ramah Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Nielsen, 81, died Feb. 1, 2005, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. She was born in Pike County on June 7, 1923, to PressieBoyd and Flossie Smith Boyd. She was raised by Mr. and Mrs. CooperPepper in Bogue Chitto.

She was a former child care provider and homemaker. She was amember of the Women’s Auxiliary of V.F.W., and the Czech Club. Shewas a member of First Baptist Church, where she was active inSunday School.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and her sister, DorothyAvenmarg.

Survivors are her husband, Roy Nielsen, of Brookhaven; herdaughter, Alice Carolyn Nielsen, of Pearl; her son, Roy EarlNielsen, of Flowood; and her cousins, Wilma Porter and GladysRichardson.

Ida Ruth Rials

Services for Ida Ruth Rials, of Jayess, are 10 a.m. Saturday,Feb. 5 at Hartman Funeral Home Chapel in McComb with burial inProvidence Baptist Church Cemetery in Jayess.

Visitation is Friday from 5-9 p.m. and Saturday from 8-10 a.m.at the funeral home.

Mrs. Rials, 77, died Feb. 2, 2005, at Lifecare Hospital in NewOrleans, La. She was born in Summit on Aug. 12, 1927, to CharlieCorban and Myrtis McCullough Corban.

She was a member of Ruth Baptist Church. She loved sewing,crocheting, hunting, fishing and just being with her family, whichshe loved very much. She was a very loving and devoted wife, motherand maw-maw.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and one sister, ErlenJackson.

Survivors are her husband, Billy Rials, of Jayess; herdaughters, Debbie Nations, of Ruth, and Dianna Canada, and herhusband, Shawn, of Albuquerque, N.M.; her brother, James Corban andhis wife, Ada Marie, of Summit; four grandchildren, Sharee Beard,Billy Carroll Nations, Danielle Davis, and Keifer Canada; and onegreat-grandchild, Destiny Beard.
